Your 2016-2017 Dollars at Work

To reach the goal of 100% participation, Acalanes Parents Club (APC) accepts donations in an amount suitable for your family all year long – it’s never too late! Click here to donate via the webstore.

You can double the amount of your donation if your employer matches it.  Learn how

Acalanes Parents Club will commit more than $200,000 to AHS this school year, providing vital services for every student at Acalanes High School.

So far, 58% of Acalanes families have made a donation. Many thanks to those donors! To meet our commitment of $200,000, we need to increase participation for the 2016-17 school year. While we appreciate support of $200 per student, we welcome any level of participation.

Grant Program 2016-2017
For the forth year, APC has awarded grants that will enhance the educational experience of AHS students in new and innovative ways.

For questions or new grant ideas, please see the Grant page, or contact Elyse Karow at grants@acalanesparentsclub.com.

Stress Counseling
APC budgeted $50,000 to provide stress counseling to assist students and families with short-term counseling on site by licensed Marriage and Family therapists with school experience. Click here for more information.

Many factors can impact a student's ability to perform to their full potential at school. Issues that stress counselors deal with include family conflict, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and substance abuse. Stress counselors facilitate student support and recovery groups; work with teachers and academic counselors to identify at- risk students, and provide educational presentations for students and parents on topics such as drug abuse prevention and intervention, stress management, and parenting teens. If you are concerned about your student, know that there is help available. Please contact your student's academic counselor.

A large part of Acalanes' success is our hard-working staff. Effective teachers are allowed time to collaborate, working together to calibrate grading rubrics and integrate curriculum. APC provides supplies, stipend pay for collaboration time beyond the school day, and conference fees so teachers can continue learning and working together.

Peer Tutoring
APC donations are hard at work in our Peer Tutoring (PT) Department providing a supportive atmosphere for learning for all Acalanes students, including AP and honors students, students in intervention, special ed, and regular classes. Over 7,500 student tutoring sessions were logged last year thanks to our dedicated Co-Directors and student tutors who foster an environment to help students succeed.
