Stress Counselors

Mental Health Intervention Specialists /Crisis Counselors

Mental Health Intervention Specialists/Crisis Counselors are a resource available to students through the generosity of the Acalanes Parents Club.  Mental Health Intervention Specialists work with Academic Counselors, Teachers, Administrators, the School Psychologist and Nurse, as well as support staff to ensure that students receive emotional support, and, if needed, referrals to outside resources.

Mental Health Intervention Specialists assist students with coaching in stress/anxiety management skills; coping strategies; time management techniques, and decision-making skills that may result in healthier choices and communication that is more effective.  We provide caring support in times of crisis.

Information on teen mental health and advocacy is available to the entire AHS community, including primary caregivers, teachers and school administrators.  Referrals to Mental Health Intervention Specialists (MHIS) may be made through your student's academic counselor or directly to MHIS.
